What it does

  • Green: useful (gold, ender pearls, saddles, name tags, music discs).
  • Blue: rare (diamonds, emeralds, golden apples, enchanted books, anything enchanted).
  • Purple: epic (netherite, totems, elytra, tridents, shulker boxes, the mace). Orange: legendary (nether stars, the dragon egg, beacons...).
  • Cobblestone, bones and rotten flesh get nothing, so a mob farm does not become a forest of light. Items from other mods use their own rarity.
  • A key to toggle beams in Controls (unbound by default). Range, height and item lists in config/vitral_beams.json.

Requires: Fabric Loader + Fabric API, or NeoForge (no extra library).

How to install

  1. Install the free CurseForge app, create a profile for your Minecraft version with Fabric or NeoForge, and search for the mod under Add Content.
  2. Or by hand: on the CurseForge page, open Files and pick the file for your version and loader. On Fabric, also get Fabric API.
  3. Put the .jar in your mods folder (nothing goes on the server) and start the game with that loader.

Beams show up right away. To toggle them with a key, set one in Controls.

Questions

Does it work on servers?

Yes. It is client-side only: you install it, the server does not, and it works on servers you do not run.

Why doesn't my stack of cobblestone glow?

Only valuable items get a beam, on purpose. You can edit the lists in config/vitral_beams.json.

Is there a Bedrock version?

It is on the way, with the same tiers and colors. See the Bedrock section.

Can I put it in a modpack?

Yes, public or private, without asking. It is MIT licensed.
